LOOSE LIPS COST LIVES.
It’s 1986, and Adam Cave, lead singer of sensational pop group Loose Lips, is struggling to stay in the closet, especially as his group is going through a messy split, and media speculation about the reasons behind it are rife.
Joe Stone is assigned to Adam as a runner for the behind-the-scenes, warts and all expose of the recording of the bands last album, and an unlikely friendship begins to form.
But when Adam’s manager, Jack Eddy, is found dead in Adam’s hotel room, in what looks like a sex game gone wrong, Joe turns to his flatmate, Russell, to help him clear the pop star’s name, and keep his secret.
Russell, meanwhile, has a secret of his own. He’s just been for a test, the results of which may change his life forever.
With thanks to Dylan at Red Dog Press for providing an ebook copy to review for this tour. I enjoyed the first book in the series – Tainted Love, so much I wanted to continue reading the series.
As with the first and second book the characters are vibrant, Joe and Russell are the main two characters that are involved, they provide a soul to this story. Considering these books are short only 122 pages long, they pack a punch when it comes to quick and in-depth story telling. Getting straight into the characters, who they are, who they are connected to, along with what has happened within the storyline, to the finale.
Within this story there is a little touch on the first book, the relationships that didn’t last and what the characters are doing now, bringing the story up to date. The 80s gay theme runs throughout the book, with my favourite diva touches, their conversations and banter between the murder mystery duo and the drag queens.
The continuation of gay hatred unfortunately continues, with the police taking physical interrogation to another level, along with the HIV and AIDS becoming more apparent, with visits to the clinic, this could lead to more truths to the investigation.
With the investigation following through, more evidence becomes clear, however Joe might end up looking in the wrong place, or does he have the right clues to find the killer!? They use the help of a red-haired fiery nurse to bring things together.
These novella stories are so much fun, quick to read, they provide a fantastic story to read, to use your own mystery solving skills. The way the story is told, it gives you time to think about the characters that could be involved, then to work through the clues to work out who the killer is.
With this being my third book in the series, I become engrossed every time within the storyline, I’m looking forward to more in this series.
